Project History
Historical Context
The Kiss was born from López’s fascination with capturing ephemeral moments in a permanent medium. This piece is part of the permanent collection at R.U.N. Art Foundry’s physical gallery in Miami, where visitors can appreciate the quality of work in person.
The Artistic Challenge
The composition presents two figures intertwined in an intimate embrace, where every curve and fold conveys the tenderness of human contact. The technical challenge lay in capturing the fluidity of the moment without losing the structural strength required for a sculpture of this size.
Casting Process
The process began with original clay modeling, where López defined every anatomical and expressive detail. Creating the silicone mold (S1) required special attention to the contact zones between figures. The lost-wax casting (S3) was executed in strategic sections, followed by artistic welding and exhaustive polishing.
Legacy and Impact
The patina application (S4) used warm earth tones that evoke the warmth of human contact. The Kiss represents the workshop’s ability to transform emotions into permanent bronze, demonstrating that artistic casting can capture the most intimate moments of human experience.
