Project History

Historical Context

El Guajiro represents the spirit of the Cuban peasant: hardworking, resilient, and deeply connected to the land. This work celebrates the dignity of rural labor and Cuban cultural roots.

The Artistic Challenge

The challenge was to capture the authenticity of the character without falling into stereotypes, achieving a respectful and characterful representation that honored the essence of the Cuban guajiro.

Casting Process

The modeling (S1) was based on detailed studies of typical guajiro clothing and attitude. Lost-wax casting (S3) preserved every wrinkle and texture that tells the character’s story with authenticity.

Legacy and Impact

The patina application (S4) used earthy tones that evoke the connection to the countryside. This piece celebrates Cuban cultural identity and pays tribute to those who work the land.
